Damn! I didn’t know that this was so effective!

Hi peeps!
It’s been a long time since I last posted something here at Rauru.com so today I’m going to show you something that I recently found and that blew up my mind!
This is a classic linkbaiting tactic! you don’t know what a linkbait is? Read on!
What is this “linkbaiting” thing about?
This post’s title (and the first paragraph too) is an example of linkbaiting. You just got suckered into clicking on my link
Link bait is any content or feature within a blog, forum or any form of website, interesting enough to catch people’s attention and somehow baits viewers to place a link to it from other websites. It is, in nature, a form of Viral Marketing. Here’s another nice example of what link baiting is!
A good linkbait will more likely make people remember your site than if you ran a huge contest or something like that. If you add some controversy to it, you’ll be getting way more attention due to human curiosity. People can’t help talking or reading about a controversial topic. Use this fact to your benefit! (be careful though, being rude or pushing people limits to the extremes can cause the opposite: people will hate you and never come back to your site).
Types of linkbaiting
- Informative: share with your readers valuable info. Give them something you know they’ll find very useful.
- News: feed them with upcoming news. Breaking news are always on the spotlight. Be the first one to let the world about it!
- Controversial: this one is by far the most powerful link baiting technique of all. Write something unpopular, mean or unappealing about someone, something or some place and you’ll surely catch people’s attention right away!. However, as I stated before, be careful! This can be a bit too explosive and you’ll need to handle things very carefully.
Have you tried linkbait? Did it work for you? Share your experiences!

I also have tried it with one of my blogs posts called “Why You Shouldn’t Promote Your Blog”. The best way to use linkbaiting is on forums

Thanks Josh
Though linkbaiting isn’t something new, it’s still widely used by many clever marketers to attract people’s attention.

Hi ikki..
It’s a cool article, but be careful with the Controversial one..
I think as a blogger, we have in one way or the other been doing it - may be consciously or unconsciously..
But having a good title, is a key thing.
