Hi peeps,
At least once in every blogger’s life there comes a time when you just can’t keep squeezing your brain to get a new, fresh idea out of it for your blog. It just can’t be helped. You find yourself trying to write something but all you see is a huge lack of creativity.
Why does this happen? There are a couple of reasons that might help you find the answer to this question:
- You’re posting too frequently: When building your blog up, it is important to post in a daily basis in order to fill it with good content and fast. However, once you’ve reached a certain amount of visitors you should take a break. Post quality stuff every 2-3 days or so.
- Your niche’s range is too limited: If your blog is about australian sharks or phpBB v.1.0 mods (modifications), one day you’ll find out that you have already posted everything you know about that. Try to expand your niche’s range into a more wider, general one (but remember: stay always on topic!)
- You’re on the wrong niche: Yes. You might be writing about stuff you don’t really know/care that much. You should consider changing your niche into something you really, really like. If this is your case, perhaps you have missed my post about Succesful Blogging tips.
Once you have found the answer there’s only one thing you can do: lay back and think about it. Here’s a list of some suggestions of what you can do during your muse hunting journey:
- Read someone else’s blog (like mine ;)): this is a powerful source of inspiration. Read what others on your same niche have to say about it. Maybe you’ll find some unexplored areas or fresh stuff you never thought about before.
- Get disconnected: maybe you’re spending too much time online. Go out, have a date, visit museums, feed the birds, kick a trash can and run away, get laid (this one is the best inspirational activity hehe). Your brain will feel revitalized and you’ll get tons of new ideas to write about.
- Experience your niche: if you’re writing about australian sharks, you might want to go and take a dive with them (and please remember to come back in one piece!). Living your passion will give you a wide vision of it and the muse will be with you again.
Hope that helps you find the way back to the track

awesome tips.
I run out of ideas all the time but really getting disconnected is the biggest ones. It really helps to get off your ass every once in a while

@ardit: yes, sometimes it’s necessary to pull the plug and get disconnected every once in a while. You’ll find out that you can get a few fresh ideas simply by having a conversation with someone you know or just by taking a walk.
Thanks for your comments!
