I can’t submit my blog entries to Digg.com!

Hi peeps,

Recently, I moved my blog to another host since I was borrowing some disk space from my friend Swastik’s host. I successfully installed my Wordpress blog in this new place and everything seemed to be working OK.

I published some new entries and when I tried to submit them to Digg (as I used to when my site was being hosted at Swastik’s) I got the following error: “This link does not appear to be a working link. Please check the URL and try again.” WTF?! I’m pretty sure my URL is fine so I don’t understand what’s going on.

I googled for that error on the net and found a lot of entries about that problem. Most of them had something to do with a plugin called BadBehavior (which I don’t have). I tried turning off all my plugins with no luck either.

Can any of you out there give me a hand with this? If so, please leave a comment or contact me via email: admin at rauru.com

Update: Somehow I believe that the .htaccess was affecting Digg’s crawler. I moved my blog to another host (G8Hosting.net! Thanks!) and made a fresh install of WP. Things are working smoothly again!

However, it would be nice if someone can confirm this to me. I won’t sleep or eat until I’ve found an answer xD

  1. Should you really be submitting your own blog entries to Digg? Surely the point of Digg is that readers who have enjoyed your posts Digg them, not that you use Digg as a promotion tool.

  2. To be honest I didn’t think of submitting it to Digg by myself was a bad thing. I don’t blog to get promotion. I do it to gain more experience and share with others what I know.

  3. Hi ikki
the problem might be with the dns servers of digg. The dns servers of digg were pointing to swastiks host, but your blog was not on his host so it was unable to crawl your page and you got the error. Usually it takes 3hours to a day for the dns propagation .
    Correct me if im wrong

  4. Well I can’t tell if that’s what really happened, Satish. I do believe that you might be right!

Now, the DNS has fully propagated and things seems to be working fine with my new host :)

    Thanks for your comments!
